Obituary

Alexis was a woman who lived life with personality, determination, creativity, and joy.

Alexis Ranita Rayford was born on May 7, 1979, in Lexington, Missouri, to the union of Alex Rayford and Cheryl Rayford. She later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she was raised and attended Kansas City Public Schools.

Alexis was a woman who lived life with personality, determination, creativity, and joy. After completing high school, she pursued a career in the medical field as a Certified Nursing Assistant, where she found fulfillment in caring for elderly and senior citizens. Her compassionate nature made caring for others a natural part of who she was.

Alexis also possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit. She enjoyed making and selling clothing and dreamed of building her own cleaning company. She was always willing to explore a new idea and find ways to turn her creativity into something meaningful.

Those who knew Alexis will remember her vibrant personality and her ability to bring life into any room. She loved dancing, singing, traveling, bling cleaning and spending time with family. She especially enjoyed recording the special moments of those around her, preserving memories that will now become treasured pieces of her legacy.

Her greatest joy was her family. Alexis was a loving mother to Kyeisha and Denisha Rayford, and she adored her only grandson, Jarel Mason jr, whom she affectionately called her “Big Man.” Her love for her children and grandson was evident in the way she cherished every moment with them.

On August 9, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri, Alexis departed this life at the age of 47. Though her journey on earth has ended, the laughter, love, memories, and joy she shared will continue through the people she touched.

Alexis will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, caring daughter, sister, auntie, compassionate caregiver, creative woman, and entrepreneur with a spirit all her own.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alex Rayford, grandmother, Addie Shannon, sister, Stephanie Moss, niece, Shawnnell Moss, nephews, Lorenzo Mitchell and Brandon Moss.

Alexis leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Cheryl Rayford; daughters, Kyeisha Rayford and Denisha Rayford; grandson, Jarel Mason Jr ; Siblings, Dwyane Moss, Jerome Moss, Denise Moss, Angela Rayford, Erica Rayford, Alexis Jones, Roberta Crawford, Delisa Roberts, and Reva Roberts, all of Kansas City, Missouri; and a host of extended family members, relatives, friends, and loved ones.

Alexis lived her life with love, laughter, and an unmistakable joy. Her journey may have ended, but the memories she created and the love she gave will continue to live on.

Rest peacefully, Alexis. Your sunshine remains.
