Alice Ruth Garner was born July 1, 1953, to the late William "Bobby" Nelson and Louise Johnson in Canton, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, and a grandson. Alice was educated at Rogers High School in Canton, Mississippi. She married Derrick Garner September 23, 2006. She was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. Alice was employed by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax examiner. She retired in August 2009. Alice departed this life Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Research Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Derrick, sons Tyrone Hudson and Augusta Otto, a sister Sylvia (Jimmy) Grant, six grandchildren, an Aunt Ellawese Johnson and a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, 11:00 a.m., Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Visitation 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Reverend John Modest Miles, Officiating. Services entrusted to Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Masks are required for attendance.
