Alice M. Sanders, 74, passed away on September 1, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born on May 22, 1946 to the union Harold F. Wilson and Serenda Young in Kansas City, Missouri. Her parents, one brother, Gregory C. Wilson, one sister, Brenda Young and daughter, Cicly Freeman all preceded her in death.
Alice was educated in the Kansas City Missouri public schools, attending R. T. Coles Vocational High School and was later a graduate of Manual High School. She furthered her education at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. She accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church under of the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. A. L. Johnson, Sr. She was active in the Mass choir and choir #2 serving as a choir director, Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, Senior Women's Missionary Society, Deaconess and worked with the Youth department. She later united the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Kim L. Gladney where she also active in the church choir and mission department, her last and present membership was with the Victorious Life Church under the leadership of Bishop Mark C. Tolbert.
Alice was a member of the Sunshine Missionary Baptist District Association, General Baptist State Convention and the National Baptist Convention of America serving in the Choir division and the Senior Womens Missionary Union. She sang in the These Are They Community Choir. She was employed at Western Electric over twenty years, she was later employed with American Family Insurance Agency. She was united in marriage to Charles P. Freeman and to this union three children were born and the marriage later dissolved. She later married John Sanders and the two could always be seen together working in the Local Church, District, State and National. She was a member of a social group known as the Twisted Sisters.
Alice was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and god-mother who will never forgotten, she truly enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends She was always blessing other with whatever she had.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, John Sanders,of the home; one son, Charles "Chuck" Freeman (Mona),; one daughter, Carla Dorsey; four brothers, Harold Wilson (Gwen), Louis Wilson (Lynn), Ernest Wilson (Jackie) and Timothy Wilson; six sisters, Lillian Garner, Carolyn Williams (Kenneth), Brenda Garrett, Francis Wilson, Dr. Kathy Humphery (Lyle) and Lois Malone; sixteen grandchildren, Noah Freeman, Erica Freeman, Shiane Freeman, Chuckeisha Freeman, Myea Freeman, Chuquel Freeman, Leander Freeman, Alyce Freeman, Charles Freeman, Jr., Chumani Freeman, Siona Freeman, Nashia Freeman, KaDarius Burgess, Shartasia Burgess, Jailyn Burgess and Precious Washington; ten great grandchildren; god daughter, Rita Berry-Harvey; nephew, Rudolph Young; niece, Rhonda Young (Ronnie Long); four brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a host other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19, at 11:00am at the Victorious Life Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation 9:00am-10:45am at the church. conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
