Obituary

Allen BarClay Charles Davis, 30, was born on December 12, 1988, at Truman Medical Center to Ernestine Davis and Leroy McKinley who also precedes him on this journey, as well as his grandfather Ivory McGowan, Jr.

Allen was well known to many people in the Kansas City community. Most saw him as an individual with a unique character. He loved to hang out with friends and crack jokes with his cousins; he always made bad jokes, which is why they gave him the name "Tricky Good". Most importantly he loved his grandmother (guardian) Annie Bell Davis who cared for him from his early childhood into adulthood.

Allen graduated in 2009 from Southeast High School's 21st Century Program, a program designed to give young adults (18-24) the opportunity to receive their high school diploma. That was a proud shining moment for him in his life. Another was the birth of his daughter Krislen Aliyana Davis on January 12, 2010.

Allen worked several jobs in the food industry throughout his life. His first job was at Panera Bread and he also was a seasonal construction worker. Allen was a very hard worker in whatever position he held and would display that charm with patrons, peers and bosses.

At the age ten, Allen starting sparring at South Town boxing in South Kansas City under the tutelage of another a spring fighter, Rico Lane. There he also met the owners, Doug and Catherine Freeman. The Freeman's would periodically check on Allen while he was in a facility for boys and he eventually came to live with them when he was 21. Allen also spoke of plans to join the military for a change, and although he never followed through one could only hope that his life was somehow fulfilled by encouraging others to. Allen played semi-pro football for three years with the Sugar Creek-Shockers, Kansas City Outlaws, and the KC Warriors. Being a boxer was also a dream of his. He played the safety position, and regardless of what the outcome was Allen showed great leadership capabilities and tenacity in encouraging his teammates to win.

Allen was called away on March 15, 2019 to embark on an eternal fellowship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Allen shared, cared and loved anyone he came into contact with. He will always and forever be in our hearts and on our minds. There will never be another ABCD.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Krislen Davis; grandmother Annie Bell Davis; mother, Ernestine Davis (J.B.); siblings, Lance Clay, Francis Davis, Cornelius Banks, Kevin Riley, Leroy McKinley, Jr., Angela McKinley and Maxin McKinley; special uncle, Emery Fayne and a host of other relatives and friends.
