Almeda Mills Lockett, 79, Raytown, Missouri, passed away on April 27, 2016. She was born March 29, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to William and Beatrice Mills. Both parents; her husband, Rev. Carl E. Lockett, Sr.; brother, William E. Mills and sisters, Katherine Simpson, Shirley Williams and Jolene Brown all preceded her in death. Almeda dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of several churches before devoting her membership to Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. Almeda was educated in the public schools of Kansas City, Missouri, graduating from Lincoln High School in the class of 1955. She actively participated in many class reunion functions until her death. Almeda was a home maker for many years as well as in the administrative field for numerous companies. She was most recently employed by Bendix Corporation from which she retired. Almeda was a dedicated mother who loved her children. She enjoyed attending bible study at her church and at her building of residence. She also enjoyed cooking, music and dressing well for the appropriate occasion. Almeda loved making everyone laugh. She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Carl E. Lockett, Jr. (Mary); three daughters, Karmeda L. Mitchell, Loretta K. Neyland and Kelly A. Clark (Anthony); two brothers, Herbert Mills (Kaye) and Ira Mills (Carol); two sisters, Melba Dostal and Margo Watson; eleven grandchildren, Jolita, Candace, Mikaela, Amanda, Kayla (Frank), Michele, DeMario, Mike (Marilyn), Marcus, DeJuan and Keenan (Talana); fourteen great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, May 5, 11:00 a.m. at Palestine Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
