Alvin Clifford Tolbert, 64, was born September 19, 1953, to the union of James Benjamin and Martha Jane Tolbert. Clifford was the fourth child of six. He was preceded in death by his father James, and brother Keith.

Clifford was educated in the Kansas City School District, and graduated from Lincoln High School. Clifford attended Grace Temple Church where he was baptized in Jesus' name under the pasturage of Elder Alonzo Taylor.

Clifford worked for Burlington Northern and Union Pacific Railroads until his retirement. He also worked at his family-owned J and L Auto until his health declined.

Clifford was an avid writer; he loved to read. He was kind, compassionate, fun loving, jovial, always smiling, and he never met a stranger. He was a dedicated husband, son, father, grandfather, brother and uncle; a GENTLE Giant.

Clifford departed this life on Saturday, November 25, 2017 in Kansas City Missouri. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Doris N. Tolbert; son, Clifford James (Cailin); daughter, LaTonya Brown; his mother, Martha Tolbert; three brothers, Edward Gene (Billye) of Arlington TX, Melvin Tolbert (Stephanie), and Clarence Tolbert; sister, Erma Rogers of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Soraja, Clifford James, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
