Andre Tyrone Norton, 45, affectionately known as 'Dre' or 'Ty' by his friends and family, was born March 15, 1971 to Herman and Lucy Norton. He was the last born of four children and was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Norton and both paternal and maternal grandparents. Andre attended school in the Kansas City public school district, graduating from Southeast High School in 1989. After graduation, he was employed by the Kansas City School District for several years until his untimely accident. Andre grew up in a spiritually-based home. He made his peace with the Lord and professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior just before his death. Andre was an avid sports fanatic; he loved his hometown teams Chiefs, Royals, Jayhawks basketball as well as the OKC Thunder. He departed this life on January 19, 2017 at Kindred Hospital, leaving to cherish his memory: one son who was the love of his life, Sirr Chase Alexander Norton; his father, Herman Norton Sr.; one brother, Herman Norton, Jr. (Diedra); two sisters, Gwendolyn Pearson and Valencia Norton; two nephews, Henry Pearson II and Marvin Lewis, Jr.; five nieces, Atoyia Norton, Kierra Norton, Brittney Norton, Brionna Norton and Shemika Norton; two great nephews, two great nieces, one brother-in-law and host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel.
