Andre Lee Spears, 64, was born January 28, 1953 in Kansas City, MO to Robert Lee Spears and Lillie B. Spears-Turner. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Spears, mother Lillie Spears-Turner, stepfather Felix Turner, and brother Christopher Spears.
Andre was educated in Kansas City, MO school district where he graduated in 1971 from Central High School (Blue Eagles). He was a passionate athlete and competitor. Throughout high school, Andre was on the wrestling team, football team, as well as track and basketball. He attended college at Texas A&M, where he completed and became a licensed engineer.
During his working years, Andre worked in many professional positions. He was a supervisor at Richards-Gebaur AFB department. After years of employment with Richard Gebaur, he moved to a position with Fairmont Dairy as Lead Engineer from which retired from his working career.
Andre found Christ at an early age as well as a strong passion for music. He was the Minister of Music at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he also directed the choir. He sang with several famous people and made several albums with the Dorothy Pettus Singers. He will greatly be remembered as one of the best and baddest Ministers of gospel music.
On January 19, 2018 he left the eyes and arms of his loving and caring wife, children, family and friends, but not their hearts and minds. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife of 22 years, Vernita J. Spears; his sons, Anthony L. Spears, W.J. (Shawna) Luckett, and Michael (Shaponica) Griddine; daughters, Arshell Avery, Andrea (Shakitia) Spears-Jordan, Alexis Spears, and Davielle Swinson-Spears; brothers, Otto Moore, Jr., Charles (Nora) Moore, Glenn (Marietta) Moore, Sr., Michael (Deborah) Spears, Ronnie (Laticia) Spears, and Steven (Rameisha) Spears, sisters, Angela Spears, Terri Bell; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services Saturday, January 27, 12:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.Visits: 0
