Andrea Elaine Kent, 52, KCMO, passed away on November 18, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born March 17, 1965 in Memphis, Tennessee to Charles Kent and Evelyn Wade Kent. Andrea attended kindergarten - fourth grade in the KCMO School district, then grades 5-7 in Richmond Virginia. She completed her education in the Hickman Mills School District graduating from Ruskin High School in 1983. She received her Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications from Central Missouri State University, where she also became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. After graduating from CMSU, Andrea worked for WXEX Channel 8 in Richmond, Virginia, later the Discovery Channel in Bethesda, Maryland, followed by a position in Human Resources at Manpower Staffing in Washington, D.C. along with H.R. Certification from American University. Upon returning to Kansas City, she began a career with Hertz Corporation during which time she obtained Schurm Institute's Senior Professional and H.R. Certification, and a Master's degree in Conflict Mediation Dispute Resolution from Baker's University, Baldwin, Kansas. She had an eighteen year career with Hertz. She will be sorely missed by her brothers, the late Cue Dellis and Alexander Kent; mother, Evelyn Wade Kent; father, Charles E. Kent; daughter, Alaina Kent; step-mother, Verna Kent; sister, Cecilia Caldwell; sister-in-law, Candace Kent and a host of beloved relatives and friends. Funeral services Saturday, November 25, 12:00 p.m. at Christ Our Redeemer A.M.E. Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made to Alaina W. Meekins-Kent for scholarship funding. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
