Andrew English was born January 7, 1925 to Joseph Will and Alma English in Morrilton, Arkansas. After many years of faithful service God called him home on January 6, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings; his first spouse Jeanette Rhome whom he married in 1950 also preceded him in death. No children were born to this union. He later married Dee Ora Shaffer in 1966 and two children were born to this union. He proudly accepted and raised her four children this made for a happy family. She also preceded him in death.

He graduated from Moten High School in Taft, Oklahoma. During his youth he cared for chickens as part of his membership in the 4H Club. He was the recipient of a Blue Ribbon for egg production. He professed his belief in Christ during his youth and later joined Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in 1966. He was active as an usher, Christian Worker and later ordained as a Deacon. He moved to Kansas City, Missouri in the early 1950's and worked various jobs. He was employed for 25 years at IPI print company. He then started his own carpet cleaning franchise "Duraclean". At that time he was the only minority with a government contract for carpet cleaning services.

He later found employment at Black & Veatch as a custodial worker. He convinced his foreman to sign him up for training as a locksmith; saving the company money from outsourcing the work. He retired after 15 years and continued his locksmith business from home naming this venture, "English and Son".

He participated in square dancing and held practices once a week in the basement of his and Dee's home. The group performed locally.

He leaves to celebrate his life: six children; Fred Shaffer, Jr. (Barbara), Sharon Shaffer-Morgan, Carol Lynn Shaffer, Angela Renee Shaffer, Andrea Dee Taylor (Derrick, Sr.), Joseph Dudley English (Mukeni); one sister Rosetta Taylor; 10 grandchildren: India Renee Miles (Marques), Alicia Shaffer, Onica Morgan, Marisha Shaffer, Jasmine Taylor, Derrick Taylor, Jr., Cahlan English, Serena Taylor, Blair English, Morgan English; five great grandchildren: Zaniah Morgan, Lundon Shaffer, Caleb Miles, Johnny Curtis, Lelauani Curtis-Morgan and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
