Andrew 'Buck' 'Andy' Watson, 82, was born April 8, 1934 in Columbus, Mississippi to the union of Willie James Watson and Flora Vaughn. Andy was educated in the Columbus School System. He would answer the call to serve his country from September 1952 - July 1954, serving the Korean Conflict. After returning home, he spent some time in New York City training to become an auto mechanic. This trade would become a lifelong passion. Andy would return to Columbus where he became an officer with the Columbus Police Department until moving to Los Angeles, CA around the early 1970's and joined the LAPD. It was there he would meet the love of his life, Carol Chester. On August 14, 1976 they exchanged theirs vows of love and commitment to one another. Shortly afterward, the newlyweds would move to Columbus where they would welcome the arrival of their daughter Tonya on January 4, 1978. In 1980 the family relocated to Orlando, FL until 1982 when they found themselves returning home to Columbus once again. Shortly afterward, Andy would be forced to retire due to health reasons in 1984. Sometime around 2000, after regaining his ability to walk, Andy followed his wife in making a commitment to Jesus Christ and became an active member of Lively Stone Christian Learning Center, under the leadership of Pastor Jordan Poole, Jr. On August 4, 2013, Andy and Carol would move one more time to be close to family. This time the move would take them to Kansas City, Missouri. On October 31, 2016 Andy would make one final move to his new home as he stepped into eternity at 6:16 a.m. on Monday morning. He was preceded into eternity by his parents, Willie James and Flora Watson, and two brothers, Willie Lee Watson and Robert Watson. Andy leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 40 years, Carol Watson; his children, Charles Watson of Clarksville, TN, Carolyn Watson-Pace (James), Pauline Watson (Edwin) of Muskegon, MI, Terry Alexander of Columbus, MS, Tonya Donald (James) and Kearra Watson of Kansas City, MO, two sisters, Lou Alma Easley of Columbus, MS and Rosa Mae Johnson of Seattle, WA; 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 14 nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 5, 5:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
