Obituary

Annena LaTrice Blanford, 42, passed away on December 30, 2017. Affectionately known as "Nena" by family and friends, she was the only child born to the late Turner Walker, Jr. and Patricia Williams of Kansas City, Missouri on February 15, 1975. Her grandparents, David Blanford, Sr., Lucinda Blanford, Turner Walker, Sr. and Adell Walker; three uncles, David Blanford, Jr., Andre Walker and Nathaniel Walker; aunt, Sheila Harrell; great aunt, Helen McGlothen; cousins, Fred "Bookie" Walker, Donyell Harrell, Dominic Byers, Sr., Dominic Byers, Jr and Sylvia Wilson all preceded her in death.

Annena attended Catholic and Christian schools in the Kansas City area: St. Francis, St. Joseph, Carver Christian, Bishop Hogan High and O'Hara High School. She also attended Penn Valley Communication College. She worked several jobs throughout her life but she loved working at World's of Fun the most. She later went on to work at the Internal Revenue Service and shortly afterwards she started her career with AT&T Telephone Company for over twenty years as a customer service representative.

Annena was a believer and accepted Christ at an early age. She grew up in New Home Church of God in Christ, and later attended Canaan Worship Center and Palestine Missionary Baptist Church where she became a member.

Annena was united in holy matrimony to Jason Lucas, Sr. in 1997. To this union her first born and best daughter ever, Amber (Omar Wilson, Sr.) and the greatest son a mother could ever dream of, Jason Jr. were born. She later married Rahsan Hardy, who has remained a friend throughout the years. Annena met Vershon Haywood and the two were planning to marry in 2018 as her best friend, companion and her better half in Christ Jesus.

Annena enjoyed her family and friends, and holiday gatherings. She loved traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to visit her maternal family. Annena kept the kids busy with trips, slumber parties, parks, movies and trips to Kaleidoscope as she wanted them to experience everything that she could share with them. Annena also enjoyed the outdoors such as fishing, camping, boating and water activities. She had so much love for her miniature pinschers, Israel, Sasha, Sadie and Bonnie…and Chow – represent.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her forever fiancé, Vershon Haywood; daughter, Amber Blanford; son, Jason Lucas, Jr.; grandson, Jason Lucas III; mother, Patricia Blanford-Williams; uncles, Colonel Blanford, Raymond Blanford (Gina), Floyd Blanford, Aaron Blanford and Darryl Walker (Traci); aunts, Carol Walker, Kathy Gray (Carl), Helen Green (Thomas), Deidre Phillips (Allen), Cynthia Byers (Shawn), Anteria Blanford, Judy Reese (William), Estella Noel (Buster), Bessie Blanford, Centoriz Perkins (Danny Sr.), Belinda Lucas (Mr. Rudy) and Paula Blanford; special cousins, Keisha, Ashley, Antwainne and Danny; special dads, Jerry Williams and Sidney Williams; play brother, Michael Richardson; God parents, Eddie and Jean Bass; and a host other cousins, church family, co-workers and friends too numerous to mention.
