Obituary

Mother Annie Lee Bolton (Baby Sister) was born November 11, 1926 in Greenwood, Mississippi to Savannah Shelby Hodges and James Hodges Sr. She was the youngest of three children and was nicknamed "baby sister". Both parents preceded her in death, also her husband Claude Bolton Sr., son, Claude Bolton Jr., sister, Avery Penn and brother, James Hodges Jr.

Annie received her early education in Greenwood and Way, Mississippi. She married Claude at an early age and they moved to Iowa, in this marriage there were six children born. Mother Bolton later moved to Kansas City, Mo where she remained until her death.

Annie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age in Mississippi and upon moving to Kansas City she joined Southside First Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. F.W. Johnson. She became a Mother of the church and served until her health failed. She also worked with the Mission and attended Sunday School. She was one of the oldest members.

Baby Sister worked in various jobs throughout the city and was a hard and faithful worker. She thoroughly loved her family and enjoyed traveling to the "Shelby" family reunions throughout the country (always packing).

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, sons, Dr. Col. Jose Bolton(Carol) OH; Tommas A. Bolton, Nashville, TN; Eastley James Bolton Sr. Sioux City, IA; daughters: Maryann Hirsch(Rick) Jackson, NE; Amelia Bolton, Kansas City, MO; special niece, Melvie Hodges George, Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To God be the glory for all He has done.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 20, at 11:00am at Southside First Baptist Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic face masks are required.
