Obituary

Anthony Renay Branscumb, 56, entered this world on June 15, 1960 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the proud son of Will Branscumb and the late Elorse M. Durst. He was preceded in death by four siblings, Doyle Branscumb, Will Branscumb, Jr., Darrell Branscumb and Cheryl Hughes. At the age of five, his family moved to Denver, Colorado where he received his education. He attended Columbine Elementary, Cole Junior High, and graduating from Manual High School in 1979. He excelled in drama, photography, choir where he sang in the Bolt Vibration Choir under the direction of Joyce Davis, and served on the yearbook staff. He became fluent in Spanish and was also voted Home Coming King his senior year. After graduating high school, he held employment with Central Bank of Denver, The Denver Zoo, Stapleton International Airport, Greyhound and J.C. Penny over the years. Affectionately known as 'Squeaky', he loved nature and hiking in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. He also enjoyed traveling and primarily spent his summers in Benton Harbor with is father and siblings. Amongst other things, Anthony had a flair for fashion and reserved an excellent taste in music. Growing up he looked forward to Soul Train on Saturday's. Anthony was an avid roller skater, bicyclist and vocalist as well. Above all, Anthony loved his family, especially spending time with his nephews and nieces as it brought joy to his days. Anthony departed this life on April 26, 2017 at Clara Manor Nursing Home in Kansas City, Missouri. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Will Branscumb (Dorothy); siblings, David Branscumb, Roosevelt Young, Dwayne Branscumb (Latonya), Adrian Branscumb, Nicholas Branscumb, Ronald Durst, Quinton Durst, Robin Allen, Shirlitha Lawson (Tony), Bridgette Durst, LaShonda Branscumb and Keshia Taylor; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, May 12, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
