Obituary

Arthur Lee Taylor, Jr., 67, KCMO, passed away on April 6, 2016. He was born in Parkin, Arkansas on November 14, 1949, the third of seven children. His parents Arthur Lee Taylor, Sr. and Estella Green; and a sister, Frances Thomas preceded him in death. Arthur accepted God at a young age and tirelessly sought the face of God through many segments of religion. He believed in Lord with his whole heart, teaching his family that they were all a part of the lost tribe of Judah, and that one day he will be resting in the bosom of Abraham. Arthur graduated from Sumner Academy in 1968 with two scholarships, one for basketball and the other for swimming and diving, but instead of college he decided to pursue a career in machine operating and envelope construction. He worked for Tension Envelope, Stevenson Envelope and DST. Arthur married Lonetta on December 18, 1986. He was very family oriented and unconditionally loved his family and friends. He had seven children of his own: Brenda, Latesha, Sheryl, Marlon, Monae, Bodisha and Tiara and one stepson, Marcus. Arthur was a man with great work ethic who loved to learn and teach. He was mentor and teacher to his community who was willing to share all of his knowledge with anyone that wanted to learn. He was a constant protector and provider who loved nothing more than to cook and feed the entire neighborhood if he could. Arthur was an extremely intelligent man and a mastermind who could think and talk his way out of any situation he faced. He had a sense of humor and a laugh that was infectious. He had a smile that could light up any room. He was the king of quotes and sayings that have been passed down throughout the generations. Arthur's passion for cooking, fishing, and chess reign supreme amongst his many hobbies and talents. He was the life of the party and was loved by many, young and old. He had a heart of gold and the spirit to match. He leaves to cherish his memory: seven children and one stepson; his siblings, Charles Taylor, Captola Harris, Joan Walker (Wardell), Grayling Taylor (Patricia), James Green, Desmond Vaughn (Trena), Christopher Taylor, Janee Taylor and Lakatherine Taylor; fourteen grandchildren, Markus, Derric, Mikiya, Nashid, Danae, Miya, Miko, Carleton, Carlisa, Avianna, Monya, Marte, Paislei, and Brailyn; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be Saturday, April 16, 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
