Athril Lee Jenkins, 74, was born on May 10, 1942. She was the tenth of thirteen children born to Lessie and Pearl Sasser of Lewisville, AR. Both parents; eight brothers, Floyd Sasser Sr, Lloyd Sasser, Jewel Sasser, Hollis Sasser, Lessie Sasser Jr., Willie Dean 'WD' Sasser, Shepard 'OV' Sasser, and Leon Sasser; and three sisters, Geraldine Powell, Pearlean Armstrong, and Rosie Mae Strickland preceded her in death. Athril Lee attended Bumpham High School in Bradley Arkansas. She accepted Christ at an early age at Union Hill Baptist Church in Canfield, Arkansas. Athril Lee relocated to Kansas City, Missouri in 1961 and started working for Mooney's Fine Food Restaurant, then later for Excel Linen Supply Company. Athril Lee enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Athril Lee departed this earth on Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Frank Jenkins of Kansas City, MO; two sons, Kelly Jenkins of Philadelphia, PA and Samuel Jenkins (Cheryl) of Grandview, MO; two daughters, Teresa Traylor of Raytown, MO and Angela Ross (Corey) of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Martha Mae Davis of Lewisville, AR; four grandsons, Anthony Traylor and James Jenkins of Kansas City, MO, Samuel Jenkins Jr. and Quincy Jenkins of Grandview, MO; one granddaughter, Santysha Jenkins of Grandview, MO; twelve great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Baptist Church. Interment Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
