Avery Lee Thomas was born on April 20, 1930, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Mr. and Mrs.

Williams (Alberta). She was preceded in death by both parents, brother, T.L. Williams and

sister, Kathleen Simpson.

Upon relocating to Kansas City, Avery worked at the Kansas City Club for many years. She also

taught Bible Study at the Seaton Community Center with the 'Senior Buddies'.

She was a long-time member of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ, where she faithfully

served from 1983 to 2021. At this time, 2021, she moved her membership to Bethlehem

Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Bennie Young.

She was a devoted choir,

member with a passion for singing and writing spiritual songs. Her other loves were traveling,

and shopping.

Avery Lee Thomas departed this life on August 10, 2023, at Saint Luke's Hospice House. She

will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Michael Thomas and Fayodis Thomas; daughters, Rita

Banks, Anita Rolls, Hazel Thomas, Barbara Thomas and Marva Thomas; and a host of

grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
