Barbara Jane Broadway, 65, KCMO, passed away on May 24, 2017 at the home. She was born January 9, 1952 to Samuel Donaldson and Mary E. Green in Warren, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Donaldson; mother, Mary E. Green-Maynard; three brothers, Timothy Jones, Leonard Maynard and Carl Maynard, Jr.; three sisters, Harriet Wheeler, Emma Jones and Henryetta Gunn. As a young girl her family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Barbara received her formal education in KCMO School District. At the time of her passing, Barbara was employed as a cook for the Kansas City Correctional Rehabilitation Center. Barbara met and married James Cole, Sr. and to this union two children were born, Yawana and James Jr. She late married Marshall Broadway on September 14, 1979, a union that lasted thirty-seven years. Barbara dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized in 1986. She had a strong faith in the Bible and the hope it held for the future; a faith that she strongly believed in and did not mind sharing with other. In her spare time, she loved being around her grandchildren or often enjoying retail therapy. She is survived by: her husband, Marshall Broadway; two children, Yawana Cole and James Cole, Jr. (Tamera); three stepdaughters and two stepsons; four sisters, Patricia Cook, Tommie Hollinshed, Minneola Maynard and Mary Shelton (Arthur); six grandchildren, Larry Dixon II, Konya Dixon, Denzelle Dixon, Rashiek Cole, Rayshawn Cole and Sharell Cole; eighteen great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 30, 12:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the hall.
