Obituary

Barbara Ann Jackson, age 68, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Advent Health Shawnee Mission Hospital. She was born on January 27, 1952, in Scott, Mississippi, the daughter of Darthy Nell Buie and Lloyd McClinton. Barbara passed away after her 42-year battle with lupus.

She loved learning and school so much that she started one. She opened Charity Christian Child Care Center in 1989, catering to the under-served population in Kansas City, Kansas. Her daycare provided two home-cooked meals a day plus a snack, education in reading, writing, arithmetic, and Christian values, as well as social developmental skills and activities in the arts such as theater, dance classes, and choir. One of her greatest joys was serving the community as a teacher and business owner, she would say, "I had a lot of fun doing this."

Above all else, Barbara Ann Jackson loved the Lord. She will be buried with her Bible so her body will forever rest with the Word of God. Barbara believed in paying it forward, and the goodwill she leaves behind will endure long after she is gone.

She is survived by her faithful husband of 39 years, Dr. Warren K. Jackson MD. of Overland Park, Kansas. Her five children: Denise Woods and spouse Richard Woods, Benjamin Jackson, Keith Jackson and spouse Shanel Jackson, Kelli Jackson, and Mary Jackson. Grandchildren: Elbert Brice, James, Emanuel Woods, Alyssa Jackson, Kinley Jackson, and Lincoln Jackson. Siblings: Sylvester Jackson, Samuel Jackson, Danny Buie, James Buie, Scott Buie, Pamela Williams, Arthur Buie, Elisa Buie; several cousins and other beloved relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Darthy Buie and Lloyd McClinton, she was preceded in death by her sister, Rose Mary Buie and her brother, Jerry Buie.
