Obituary

Elder Barbara Dell Jones, 71, of Loganville, Georgia formerly of Kansas City, Missouri died on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. She was born December 8, 1948 to the union of Lee Estis and Evelyn Estis in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the second of three children born to this union. Both parents, stepfather, Paul Reed, one brother, Marvin Estis and a sister, Elnora Wells all preceded her in death.

Barbara was educated in the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools, graduating from Central High School class of 1966. She studied education at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. She attended Availa College, Kansas City, Missouri where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Adminstration with a Major in Marketing. She studied Theology at Luther Rice University and Seminary receiving three degrees Master of Arts Degree in Christian Studies, Biblical Counseling and Ministry.

Barbara worked at AT & T Corporation as a Manager/Trainer in the Engineering Department until she retired. She was a member of Toastmasters, Inc. and The America Business Women's Association and was the founder of her Non-Profit Organization Families of Royalty. She accepted Christ at an early age and was united in fellowship with the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas. On November 15,1969, Barbara married the love of her life Ronald G. Jones I. They made their home in Kansas City, Missouri , before relocating to Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Barbara united with the Voices of Faith Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Gary Hawkins, Sr. and was on the church staff. She was ordained as Minister of Christian Education and was also ordained as an Elder, serving in this position until she retired.

Barbara's interests included Studying the Word of God, gardening, traveling and entertaining her friends and family. She was known for her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her favorite sayings were, " I'm Better Than Blessed" and " I Love You More Than I Love You."

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty (50) years, Ronald G. Jones I; two children, Michael (Laura) Jones, Snellville, GA and Ronald (Michelle) Jones II, Lithonia, GA; three brothers, Ricky (Jan) Estis, Apple Valley, MN, Lee Estis, Jr., Kansas City, MO and Kelvin (Hicke) Etis, Hinesville, GA; four sisters, Laura Blackwell, Kansas City, MO, Diane (George) Johnson, Marietta, GA, Carmen R. Banks and Karen Estis, Raytown, MO; step-mother, Lucille Estis, Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Camille, Kristen, Ronald III, Kelly and Callie Jo; uncle, Malvin (Mary) Harris, Kansas City, MO; aunt, Minister Rosemary Thornton, McDonough, GA; brother-in-law, Andre Jones; sister-in-law, Cydria Paul, a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 11:00 am at the Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 19, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the chapel and Saturday, June 20, from 9:00am-11:00am. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
