Barbara Smith passed away on March 24, 2022 at the age of 76, in Kansas City, Missouri. Her battle with serious medical issues, in recent years, was a testament to her courage in facing life's challenges. Despite the pain, Barbara remained strong until the very end. Her last weeks were spent surrounded by loved ones, reminiscing about good times, and guessing answers on Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Bettie and Aaron Williams; brother, Wayne Williams; sisters, Jacqueline Carr and Brenda Williams; son, Cary Smith; and daughter, Erika Smith. Barbara is survived by her son, Michael Smith; daughter, Deedra Mitchell (Peter); grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Christian Mitchell, Sadie Mitchell, Ian Mitchell, Kelli Mitchell, and Isley Tyler; great grandson, Aaron Keaton Smith; brothers, Aaron Williams, Jr. (Olivia), Owen Williams (Stephanie), Danny Williams (Mayra), David Williams (Alicia), Ray Williams, and Ricky Williams; sisters, Wanda Jones (Terry) and Odessa Jordan; sister-in-love, Percetta Williams; and a host of nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service will be held on Barbara's birthday, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, 11am at XII Gates Cemetery.
