Bertha Carletia Townsend was born on August 23, 1935 to Dewey Commodore Roberts and Jewel Charlotte Nowling who both have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Willie Townsend, brothers Eugene Lucas, Charles Roberts, Commodore Roberts, sister Betty Moore, and grandson Jamiah Washington. Bertha was educated in the public schools in Kansas City, MO. She attended Bruce Elementary School, RT Coles and Lincoln High School. She gave her heart to Jesus at an early age while attending Barker Temple COGIC. In 1954, Bertha married her high school sweetheart John C. Robinson and four children were born to this union. She later was married to Willie B. Townsend in 1976. Bertha went to her rest on October 23, 2018 surrounded by her loving children and granddaughter Lynn who was her constant, devoted caregiver to the end. Special thanks to Tim Dean who assisted in her care daily and Yolanda Woodard who made sure we never ran out of supplies. She leaves to cherish her memory: her sisters Jewel White-Claremont, CA, Marlene Roberts-KCMO, children Joy Mayberry (Earl), Teresa Williams, Robbie Robinson (Donna), Aaron Robinson (Tracy); grandchildren Lynn Robinson, Sarita Robinson, Jeremy Robinson, Demond Washington, Mark McClarty, Nasya Washington, Sherry McClarty, Kristen Gray, Eric Mayberry, Clifford Woodard, Michael Woodard (Yolanda), Ronald Taylor, Trevon Taylor, Rayshawn Taylor, Marschelle Garcia (Julio), Tearra Robinson, Storm Robinson; forty-three great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services Thursday, November 1, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E.
