Betty Ann (Browning) Byers, 71, was born to the union of Eldridge and Ella Browning in Bettie, Texas on May 10, 1946. After she was born, she moved to Kansas City with her parents. In her early childhood, she attended school in Kansas City, Kansas and from third grade through high school she attended the Kansas City, Missouri School District, graduating from Central High School. She went on to earn her Master's degree in Education from Avila University. On August 3, 1963, Betty was united in marriage to Bervin Byers, Sr. To this union two children were born. Betty retired from teaching in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. After retiring she had more time to enjoy her hobbies like writing poems, growing plants, drawing, collecting tigers, old brass and African art. Mrs. Byers, a wife, mother and grandmother, departed this life on July 23, 2017 at the home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bervin Byers, Sr.; father, Eldridge Browning; mother, Ella Verge (DeVance) Browning, and sister, Dora S. Byers. Betty leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Bervin (Adrienne) Byers, Jr. of Grandview, MO and Brecke A. Byers of the home; two brothers, Reginald E. (Shelia) Browning of Tucson, AZ and Bobby A. (Jennifer) Browning of Thornton, CO; six grandchildren, Bervin Byers III, RaShawnda Byers, Blake A. Byers, Brooke A. Byers, Brionne A. Byers and Blair A. Byers; three nephews, two nieces and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, along with many friends and neighbors. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 29, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the church.
