Obituary

Betty Rose Hubbard, 80, was born May 10, 1938 to Joseph and Louise Hubbard in Kansas City, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Louise Hubbard; paternal and maternal grandparents; one brother, Joseph Hubbard, Jr.; four sisters, Evelyn Sykes, Beverly Ann Hubbard Matheny, Jacqueline Williams, and Christine Mckinney; her eldest son, James Jackson; two nephews, Keith Hubbard and Curtis Williams, Jr.; two nieces, Josie Hubbard and Joyce Apolughe and one grandson, Lamont Tivis-Hubbard.

Betty accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Stephen Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Palestine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Earl Abel. As a long time member of Palestine she was a member of several Ministries, one of which was the Solace committee. She also was a helper with Camp Palestine.

Betty attended R.T. Coles and went to school in the greater Kansas City area. She trained at Manual Tech where she received her nurses aid certificate. She served thirty-five years at Menorah Medical Center as a Nurses Aid and a Unit Clerk until its closing. She then transferred to Baptist Medical Center as a receptionist in the X-ray department. Ms. Betty retired at sixty-five from Baptist with a total of forty-seven years of service. She also served as a member of the Trailblazer chapter of the American Business Women's Association.

If you met Ms. Betty you really met someone. She didn't know a stranger; this woman could out talk a satellite radio and you had no other choice but to sit and listen. She was also known as the "Cake Lady". She could talk the sweetness into a cake. Ms. Betty picked up baking cakes as a hobby every year for roughly four years around the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's holidays. She also enjoyed playing Pokeno with her Infamous 9 Pokeno Lady Crew.

Ms. Betty fell ill after her 80th birthday party on Thursday, May 10th 2018, roughly early morning of Friday, May 11th, and was hospitalize for 13 days. Our Rose received her wings on Thursday, May 24th 2018 at St Luke's Medical Center.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her two daughters, Tonda (Wayne) Bailey, Deborah Hubbard and one son, Lamont Hubbard all of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren, Brandon Jackson, Jasmine Jackson, Jade Hubbard, Dominick Jackson, Ebony Jackson, Tinniece Hubbard-Bailey, Jonas Bailey and Montez Hubbard-Bailey; seventeen great grandchildren, Brandon, Breoni, Gregory, Hayley, Marley, Mason, Sasha, Jariah, Daylen, Emani, Dayana, Correy, Dallas, Correana, Kwalee, Breighlynn, and Aaiden; one great-great grandchild, Beileii; two brothers, Chester Hubbard and LaRue Hubbard both of Kansas City, MO; one special nephew, Sylvester Williams; one God-daughter, Charlotte Bell; special friends, Dee, Terri, Cathy, Dorothy, and Hattie; all her special children, nephews, nieces, cousins, her Infamous 8 Pokeno Ladies and a host friends.
