Obituary

Betty Jean Woods, 68, passed away on March 4, 2019 at K.U. Medical Center. She was born on September 9, 1950 and was the second oldest daughter born to Lloyd O. Woods, Sr. and Cora Lee (Williams) Woods. She accepted Christ at a very young age and truly loved the Lord.

Betty Jean attended the Kansas City, Missouri public schools from which she graduated. She most recently worked in Retail, but had to take an early retirement at the age of fifty due to severe medical reasons.

Betty will be truly remembered for her big smile, fancy style of dress, talkative personality, her delicious cooking, and the love for her only adult son, grandchildren, family, and friends. Betty enjoyed, going to church worship, going to church social engagement outings, watching cooking shows on television, watching the local news, socializing with her neighbors, shopping, doing crossed word and word search puzzles, and reading the Bible.

Betty Jean Woods was preceded in death both parents, Lloyd O. Woods, Sr. and Cora Lee (Williams) Woods; paternal and maternal grandparents and great-grandparents (Woods/Williams); four beloved older brothers, Lloyd Woods, Jr., Elbert Lee Woods, Tommy Woods, Sr. and Bobby Woods; four beloved sisters, Margaret Ann McIntosh, Mary Francis Tucker and twin sisters, Loyce and Joyce Woods.

She leaves to cherish her memory of her only adult son Michael A Woods, Sr. (Lorre), and three very special grandsons, Airece Fort (mother, Bridget), Michael A. Woods, Jr. (mother, Nikki), DeAngelo Woods (mother, Susan) and two great grandchildren. Also cherishing her memory are her beloved two sisters, Darlene Marshall (Elder Willie Marshall) and Charlene Brooks (Earnest); four beloved brothers, Bobby Woods, Michael Woods, Sr., Darnell Woods and Dennis Woods (Denise); and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, March 9, 2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on website.
