Beulah M.
Jemison
Jun 2, 1933 — Nov 16, 2018
Beulah Mae Jemison, 85, passed away on November 16, 2018. She was born on June 2, 1933, in Jewett, Texas to Hurley and Berta Lee Thompson who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Jemison Jr., her son, James Reginald Jemison, her sister, Alberta Tutt, her brothers, Robert Thompson, Douglas Thompson, and Earl Thompson.
Beulah, who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and personal savior at an early age, graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Texas. As a high school graduate, Beulah found work at the Carswell Air Force Base Commissary. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, US Airman, Jessie Jemison Jr. They married on April 25, 1953 and from this union, sox children were born. For sixty-two years she was Jessie's devoted wife until his death on March 14, 2015.
As a young wife and mother, Beulah was completely dedicated to raising and nurturing her family. The most important thing she did for them was to ensure that they all attended church regularly, pray, read/study the bible and live a Christian life, just as she did. During this time, Beulah and her family attended Victory Temple Church where she truly enjoyed praising and worshiping God through singing, dancing, shouting, and testimony. She readily and happily served as a Sunday School Teacher as well as a Hostess/Door Greeter. Several years later, Beulah and Jessie became members of Evangelistic Center where they continued to serve God through aging and illnesses. Another aspect of Beulah's life that she was extremely proud of was working as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at the Little Sister's of the Poor, a nursing home facility. There, she was a dedicated and highly respected employee who was happy to care for the sick and the elderly. She worked there for 20 plus years until she retired.
Beulah's dedication and commitment to God was evident and set the example needed by her family, co-workers and friends that made them strive to follow in her footsteps. Her prayers, words of wisdom and encouragement were greatly appreciated by all and she will be sorely missed.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her eldest living son, Frederick Jemison (Linda), Michael Jemison, Mitchell Jemison (Ruby), Monica Blackmore (Scott), and Patricia Burke (Joe); eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
