Bishop Gary M.
Kivett
Jan 25, 1962 — Nov 10, 2019
Bishop Gary Mason Kivett departed this life "suddenly" on Sunday, November 10, 2019 and was received in the presence of God before such a great cloud of witnesses. He was born on January 25, 1962 in Fayette, Missouri as the only child to the union of Horace Lannon & Martha Ann Kivett.
Bishop Kivett was preceded in death by his father, Horace Lannon Kivett; daughter, Tyree Nicole Cooper Green; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Bishop Kivett received his formal education at Booneville High School in Booneville, Missouri. Having learned various construction and carpentry skills over the years, Bishop Kivett worked for several construction companies and later became a business owner in the same field. He was also a member of the Local 53 IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). He retired from Mohawk Construction Company in June of this year.
In August, 1997, Bishop Kivett received his License to the gospel ministry at United Community Cathedral (UCC) in Columbia, Missouri under the leadership of Bishop Russell Freeman. He would later become the Overseer of UCC and with UCC, also become a part of the New Vision Jurisdictional Fellowship under the leadership of Bishop W.H. White, Sr. here in Kansas City, Missouri. He was later elevated to the Bishopric by Apostle Tony Barhoo of Living Faith World Ministries in November, 2008.
On January 26, 2008, he married the love of his life, Pastor Cynthia Ann Cooper. Together, they would love and lead a "blended" family and both pastor Destiny Life Center Ministries where he boldly taught and preached the Word of God. Bishop Kivett would lead a weekly outreach effort with Destiny Life Center members to minister to the homeless by taking meals; evangelizing and winning souls for Christ.
Bishop Kivett had become a member of the Board of Directors for the Concerned Clergy Coalition of Kansas City. He also received training as a Christian Counselor under Apostle Larry B. Aiken of the New Vision Fellowship of Churches. Teaching, discipling and preaching the Gospel was his passion. He was confident of his call and worked tirelessly to inspire and motivate countless others to fulfill their God-given assignments in the earth. He would never hesitate to share a word of prophecy to those with an ear to hear.
Left to cherish his life and memories are his loving wife, Pastor Cynthia Ann Kivett; his mother, Martha Ann Kivett; children: Jessica Johnson, Andrea Wymer and Jason (Sarah) Kivett; Abuena "Dee" Jackson (Glenn); Teresa L. Scruggs; Alesha S. Reese (Steven); a son-in-law, Courtney O. Green; grandchildren, Wyatt, Delaney, Pierson, Wren, Kole, Kailey; Domonique, Kayla, Jaylen, Anthony, Keaton and Caleb; aunts; uncles; innumerable cousins; his Destiny Life Center Ministries Church Family; and other relatives and friends.
