Obituary

Bobby L. Trotter, Sr., 83, KCMO, passed away on April 15, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House. He was born August 3, 1933 in Vicks, Arkansas to the late Calvin Trotter and Janie Averiett. He was preceded in death by a daughter and sister. Bobby was educated in the public schools of Arkansas and graduated from Chico County High School in 1951. He later served in the United States Army, ranking Private First Class before being honorably discharged. In 1958, Bobby relocated to Kansas City where he would make his home for nearly sixty years. Upon his move, he gained employment with Western Electric Company (now AT&T) from which he retired in 1988. He attended Emmanuel Church regularly until he became ill. A true jack of all trades, Bobby could repair anything he laid hands on and was known as the neighborhood Mr. Fix-It. He loved fishing and hunting, but could often be found just relaxing. He also enjoyed cooking, playing pool and bowling as a pastime. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving companion of twenty years, Ms. Loretta Chase; seven children, Bobby L. Trotter, Jr. and Patricia Holmes both of Arkansas, Terence Trotter of Chicago, IL, Eric Trotter, Sr., Phillip Trotter (Kia), Patrick Trotter (Toni) and Valeria Townsel (Martin) all of Kansas City, MO; eighteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 22, 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Washington Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Leavenworth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
