Bobby Jean
Wilson
Dec 13, 1930 — Apr 12, 2026
Bobby Jean Wilson was born on December 13, 1930, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri, having lived a life most full of grace, strength, and steadfast devotion.
She was a woman of Christian faith, and her days on this earth were marked by a spirit both tender and bold. Bobby labored for many years with the Kansas City School District, where her presence was known by diligence, integrity, and a quiet excellence that spoke louder than words. Yet her truest work was ever within the sacred circle of family, where she stood as matriarch, keeper of memory, and faithful heart of the home.
Bobby was one who knew no stranger, for her welcome was broad and her table ever open. She fed all who came near, not only with food, but with warmth, counsel, and the kind of love that makes a weary soul feel at rest. She hosted family gatherings with gladness, and in those moments she gathered generations together as if by holy calling. She was outspoken and plain of speech, and she did not bite her tongue, yet even in her firmness there was honesty, courage, and a fierce devotion to those she held dear. She was, in every noble sense, the backbone of her family, loving, selfless, and spirited.
In her manner, Bobby carried herself with the plain dignity of one who had weathered many seasons and yet remained unbowed. She possessed the rare gift of making others feel seen, heard, and included, and her home was often a place where laughter, conversation, and comfort dwelt together. She loved deeply and lived with a spirit that could not be hidden, for her heart was ever near the people she cherished. Her life was a testimony that love is not merely spoken, but practiced, and that faith is not merely professed, but lived.
The Scriptures remind us that "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven" from Ecclesiastes 3:1. Bobby's season among us was long and richly appointed, and now her earthly labor is finished. We commend her soul into the merciful hands of Almighty God, trusting in the promise of Christ, who said, "I am the resurrection, and the life." In that blessed hope, we give thanks for her journey and for the abiding witness of her faith.
Bobby lived with a mind and heart that made a place of refuge for many, turning hardship into endurance and ordinary days into cherished remembrance. Her legacy abides in the lives she shaped, the meals she shared, the truths she spoke, and the love she gave without measure.
Her daughters, Gloria Beal and Alesia Beal of Kansas City, Missouri, and her sons, Larry Beal of Kansas City, Missouri, and Stepfran Beal of Germany, were among the great joys of her life. She also leaves behind her brother, Clyde Houston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 12 Grandchildres, 26 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Bobby was preceded in death by her brothers Harold Beal, Charles Beal, Willard Houston, and Richard Houston, and by her sisters Jacqueline Houston and Virginia Gillis. Though death has taken these loved ones from earthly sight, the bonds of family and the remembrance of their lives remain written upon the hearts of those who loved them.
Though she has departed from this mortal scene, Bobby's memory shall remain a lamp among her people. She will be remembered for her loving nature, her selfless care, and her spirited voice. She will be remembered as a woman who stood firm, loved well, and gave much. May the Lord grant her eternal rest and perpetual light, and may those who mourn be comforted by the promise that in Christ, death is not the end, but the gate to everlasting life.
