Bonnie Jean Smith, 71, passed away on July 22, 2019 at Research Medical Center. She was born January 23, 1948 in Council Grove, Kansas to Alfred and Elizabeth (Campbell) Reese. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Cecil Reese, Gary Reese, Hurshell Reese, Tommy Reese and Hubert Reese; four sisters, Susan Price, Oddie King, Elnora Porter and Thesbee Broils; one nephew, Willis Whitfield III and one niece, Telisha Reese.

Bonnie was educated in the public schools of Council Grove, Kansas. She later moved to the Kansas City area in 1983 where she made her home for over thirty six years.

Bonnie, also known as "The Avon Lady", was an avid baker. She also loved crossword puzzles and knitting. Bonnie a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be missed by all whose life she touched.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Mark Smith, Sr. and one daughter, Natalia Mitchem; one sister, Kenita Whitfield; nine grandchildren, Taneisha Davis, Mark Smith, Jr., Jonae Spencer, Marcel Downton, Jocelyn Merritt, Ke'Shay Morgan, Roy Scott, Jr., Maleah Downton and Nia Smith; four great grandchildren, Guy Johnson III, Ta'Miyah Johnson, Devoe Marrow, Jr. and Ma'Khi Davis; three nephews, Willis Whitfield, Jr., Chris Whitfield and James Price, Jr.; four nieces, Vanessa Johnson, Veronica Veasy, Rachelle Henderson and Tamika Reese; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services Saturday, August 3, 10:30 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
