Obituary

Brandon Dontae Johnson, 30, was born September 19, 1985 and ended his journey on September 2, 2016. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Barbara J. Rule and Mary Watkins; and great grandparents, Stanton and Mary Weston. Brandon received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Temple of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. In his earlier years, Brandon served as part of the Angel Choir, Youth Ushers and Young Laymen's Ministries. In 1997, he took first place the Missouri progressive State Convention's Bible Memory Work Competition. Brandon attended school in the Independence and Kansas City School Districts, graduating in 2004. For a short time, he attended Missouri Western University in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a member of the Kansas City Boys Choir and was also the 1998 Essay Contest winner. Brandon worked various jobs in Kansas City, Missouri before finding his dream job working with LINC before and after school program, where he was stationed at Melcher Elementary School. He truly loved those kids at Melcher. Brandon also volunteered as the coach of the football team while there. He had dreams of one day opening a youth center. In June of 2010, God graced Brandon with a lovely baby girl, Little Miss ShaN'yah and if you knew anything about Brandon you know that he was crazy about his little girl. He'd take her to sporting events with him, movies, lunch, etc. He spent a lot of time with his baby stepdaughter, RaN'yah also. Five months ago Brandon's little man Braydon was born and he was so proud of this little guy. Brandon had recently completed marriage counseling and planned to marry the love of his life and the mother of his children, Ms. Shard'nae Whitmore on February 18, 2017. He was soon to be the Godfather to Draya Fay Renee Henderson, daughter of Ms. Javon Ivy. Brandon was a very caring, loving, kind, and compassionate young man who loved his family dearly. He was a very energetic man who loved life, and if you were his friend, you truly had a friend indeed. Brandon was a diehard fan of the Kansas City Chiefs as well as the Kansas City Royals, and on game day you would find him up as early as 6AM preparing him and the kids jerseys for the game. If the Chiefs won, the celebration was on, but if they lost the day wouldn't go so good. Brandon also had a passion for cooking and grilling. If you were grilling, he was for sure to take over. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: three children, ShaN'yah Johnson, Braydon Johnson and RaN'yah Castle; his mother, Gaye Weston (Lonnell); father, J.B. Johnson of St. Louis, MO; grandfather, Willie James; fiancé, SharD'nae Whitmore; brothers, Reggie Johnson and Kenneth Middleton; sisters, Letitia Weston, Chaquita Weston, Quierra Johnson all of KCMO, Michelle Middleton, Dana Mosely; nephews, Kendale II, Ke'Antae, KeShaun, Kenyon and Deontae' Johnson; nieces, MyQuayla Williams, Myla Johnson and Rylei Richardson; special aunts, Letitia Evans and Sheryl Emery (Denorval); first cousin, Deirdre Lee (Clifton); mother-in-law, Kimberly Whitmore (Darrell); game day buddy, Betty White and a host of other relatives and friends.
