Obituary

Brenda Kay Pouncil, 68, passed away December 21, 2018. She was born on April 1, 1950 to John Moore and Floretta Jones. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; two brothers, Barry and Danny McIntosh; a still-born child, Marcus Jones; her favorite uncle and aunt, Robert and Bettie Jones, and a host of other beloved family members who were influential in nurturing her throughout her life.

Brenda graduated from Paseo High School in 1968. She married Dwight Jones, Sr. in 1969 and to this union two children were born, Dwight Jones, II and Shae Jones. On February 14, 1980 she married her lifelong valentine and soulmate, Glenn Pouncil, and to this union a daughter, GlenNeisha Pouncil, was born.

She was employed by the City of Kansas City, Missouri, Aviation Department as an Executive Assistant and later transferred to the Parks and Recreation Department where she worked until her retirement on January 1, 2007. In her pastime, Brenda enjoyed creating beautiful flower arrangements and ceramic figurines which she later turned into a successful wedding planning business.

Brenda accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and began her journey for the glory of God in teaching and evangelism. She loved the Lord and never forgot that she was blessed by His goodness and mercy. Her compassionate and generous spirit led her to minister to God's people, especially the homeless and abused women and children, Often putting the needs of other's before her own, Brenda blessed many through her countless charitable acts that included food, clothing, personal items and preparing baskets full of toys and treats for Easter and Christmas. She also fostered three children.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 38 years, Glenn Pouncil; four children, Dwight Jones, II, Tony Madden (Tonya), Shae Jones and GlenNeisha Pouncil; one sister, Victoria Olds; one brother, Kenneth McIntosh; nine grandchildren, De'Ante Muhammad (Kaila), De'Angela Jones, Anthony Madden, Tiana Madden, Lauren Cherry, Lyndsey Cherry, Devondes Jones, Deja'Nae Jones and Makai Walker; two great grandchildren Kaamil and Kaashif Muhammad; and a very special daughter, Kelli Jones.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Graveside services will follow, 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
