Obituary

Brenda Kay Wilcox, 65, was born March 20, 1951 to Willie Lee Randle and Lula Mae (Scott) Randle, in Kansas City, Kansas. Her parents; husband, James H. Wilcox; brother, James Arthur Randle; and brother-in-law, Eric Richard Wilcox preceded her in death. Brenda, affectionately known as 'Kay' by her family and friends, attended Switzer and D.A. Holmes Elementary Schools in Kansas City, Missouri. She also attended Central Jr. and Central High Schools, but graduated from Paseo High School. Kay began her career at Harzfeld's department store where she crafted the art of gift wrapping. From there she worked as a Benefit Authorizer at the Social Security Administration until retiring in 2007. After retirement, she joined NPB Event Staffing Company, which she enjoyed immensely. In 2013, she was honored as the employee of the month. Kay was baptized at an early age at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. She was a former member of the young people's choir and a participant in BTU (Baptist Training Union). She played on multiple teams for the church which included baseball and bowling. She also prepared meals weekly for the Young Warriors for Christ Youth Program at the church. Kay enjoyed cooking and baking for her friends and family. Many people came through her home, and found comfort in her food along with great conversation. In her earlier years, she enjoyed being a member on various bowling leagues and won multiple trophies. Her house was home to many throughout the years; relatives and friends who needed a place to live for a short period of time until they got back on their feet. She lived for her family and had such a huge heart! Kay answered the Master's call on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Shawnee Mission Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Tommy D. Adams, James Hayden Randle IV, and Michael Shawn Wilcox; one daughter, Camille Wilcox; two granddaughters, Myrelia Woods-Nichols and Jhaya Tynell Randle; one great granddaughter, Hayden Annette Nichols; four brothers, Leonard 'Jimmy' Randle (Judy), Willie 'Ronnie' Randle (Donna), Phillip Randle and David Randle; four sisters, Mae Helen Richardson, Arnetta Randle, Vicki Marshall and Lisa Randle; one brother-in-law, William 'Billy' Wilcox; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Randle, Lorita Anderson, and Janette Wilcox; God-sister, Bernita Canada-Shaw; best friend, Carolyn Addison and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, a ton of cousins and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 18, 12:00 p.m. at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church.
