It is with profound sadness and grief that the family of Brian A. Moten, 32, of Kansas City, Missouri, announces his passing on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Shawnee Mission Medical.

Cherished for his charismatic spirit and sharp wit, Brian was born to Carla Canady and Darren Moten Sr. on Wednesday, October 9, 1985 in Kansas City, Missouri.

At an early age, Brian accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Canaan MBC and served as an active member of the youth choir and audio ministry while attending. Cultivated by his maternal great-grandparents, Brian quickly discovered a love for gardening and fishing that he carried with him well into adulthood. A life-long autodidact, Brian passionately studied marketing, sales, advertising, the culinary arts and business.

It was his spirit of self-determination, gift for gab and firm belief in his abilities that landed him at Cox Automative as their Digital Strategist.

Sublime Prince Brian Moten was an active member of the Pythagoras Lodge 86 of the PHA Freemasons, in Kansas City, KS, where he received the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on 30 April 2010.

Brian is survived by his mother, Carla Canady (George); father, Darren Moten Sr. (Sharon); brother, Darren Moten, Jr.; maternal and paternal grandmothers, Maudine Wilkins and Mellernee Moten; special someone, Tiffany Wheeler as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family members and close friends.

His footsteps were truly illuminated, and his light will continue to shine on every place he walked and in every one he set eyes on. As an organ donor, Brian's spirit of giving lives on in the six recipients he gifted with his donation.
