Burton Oliver Dillard, Jr., 77 passed away on January 16, 2019 in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was born on October 1, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas to Bert Oliver Dillard and Eva Mae Dillard. He was preceded in death by his father; son, Burton (Winkie) Dillard III and grandson Kameron Young.
Burton grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and was educated in the Kansas City School District, graduating in 1959 from Lincoln High School.
Burton worked over thirty years in management at General Motors and he retired in great standings in 1999. In his early years, Burton was a member of St. Stephen Baptist Church and more recently became a member of Abundant Life in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
In 1982, he married the love of his life, Virgie L. Dillard, whom he cherished and devoted his life to. He enjoyed travel with his wife. With family and friends he never missed a chance to pass stories about the good old days of skating, playing upright guitar, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the St. Stephen Drum and Bugle Corps, The Saddle Club and The Suave Bohemians Band and club.
He leaves to adore his memory: his wife, Virgie Dillard; children: Shelly Dillard, Kelly Young, Camille Watson, Lisa Scott, Terry Parks and Harold Parks; mother, Eva Dillard; brother, Winston Dillard; sister, Marshia Irvin; grandchildren: William Thedford IV, Juanita Thedford, Gemi Carter (husband Walter Carter II), Kevin Patton, Kaleb Young, Kelly Justin Dillard, Ally Dillard, Camaro Trebor Scott, Kaden Young and Karlly Dillard; great grandchildren: Stella Thedford, Bryson Carter and Eshe Thedford; and a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services Saturday, January 26, 12:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Church 414 SW Persels Rd., Lee's Summit, MO. Interment Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
