Carla Anitra Gray was born June 26, 1963 to Carl and Maxine Nelson Gray. She had two brothers Stacey (now deceased) and Terry Gray. Carla was raised in Kansas City, MO, she graduated from Southwest high school in 1981. Carla continued her education and attended Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State) in Kirksville, MO for one year and to Penn Valley Community College.

Carla married her childhood friend Tony C. Godfrey and they had two children together. They were together for over twenty years, the marriage dissolved but they remained friends.

Carla retired from the Kansas City MO Police Department (KCPD) after 28 years, one of her proudest moments. She later found her passion of caring for people and continued to work in the home healthcare field with Our House My House Agency for several years.

Carla was a member of Concord Fortress of Hope Church for several years. She then decided to return to her childhood church Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her passing.

Carla loved to cook, have family gatherings, dance, all things fashion, her favorite pastime was crocheting. Carla loved to help people whether they were in need or to be a listening ear. She always handled people with grace and kindness, and kept in contact with loved ones, friends and associates. Carla was a strong proud woman who lived her life to the fullest.

Carla leaves behind two children Aaron Godfrey and Anitra Godfrey-Green. A brother Terry Gray and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
