Carletta Yvonne (Butler) Candler, 41, KCKS, was born November 22, 1975 to Shenita Butler and Carl Bell in Kansas City, Missouri. Carletta was raised at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. L. Johnson, where she accepted Christ and was baptized. Carletta was united in marriage to Louis Candler III and to their union was born three children, Asia, Phyliss and Louis IV. Carletta took on a job to help support the family. The marriage was later dissolved however she continued working to support her children. Carletta was so full of life and was kind to all she came in contact with. She loved her family and truly cherished her children. Being a fan of old school music, Prince and Michael Jackson were her favorite artists. Later in life, Carletta became very ill and was in out of the hospital. She got so tired that she would ask the Lord to come and take her home. The Lord answered her request on June 14, 2017 at the home. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Andrew and Azalee Bell; brother, James Porter II and sister, Tracy Gaines. She leaves to mourn her passing: one son, Louis Candler IV; two daughters, Asia Candler and Phyliss Candler; father, Carl Bell; mother, Shenita Butler; maternal grandmother, Mary Butler; three brothers, Mark Porter and Carl Canaday, Jr.; five sisters, Doris Canaday, Crishion Canaday, Caryoone Canaday, Carlena Canaday and Althea Porter; special cousin, Rev. Ruby Ellis; three grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, June 23, 11:00 a.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
