Carol Renee Carter Long was born on August 28, 1947 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the late Isaiah and Amy Lavada Carter. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Charlie Carter, Rudolph Carter, Billie Jean Looney, Evelyn Pierce and John Carter. Carol attended public school in Attala county in Mississippi. After graduating from high school, Carol relocated to Kansas City, Missouri and immediately became a member of a local church. In the early 1980s, Carol became a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Finance Committee and the Usher Ministry.
Carol began her professional career at Hallmark Cards where she met and married her husband of 53 years, Richard Long. She retired from Hallmark Cards in 1999 as a manager after working over 30 years. Carol earned a BS degree from Park University. After retiring from Hallmark, she began teaching public school elementary education for several years. She had a great passion for young children. At many Long family gatherings, Carol was often discussing academically challenged students. Of course, she also had many joyous stories of her students. Carol's greatest concern was the younger generation. Finally, Carol permanently retired as a teacher.
Carol loved discussing current politics and where to get a great bargain on goods and products. Carol was very passionate about good food and visiting top quality restaurants. You could often find Richard and Carol dining during the week and on weekend at their favorite restaurant.
Carol is survived by her husband, Richard Long of the home; one brother, Lamon Carter, Sr. (Barbara); special nephew, Lamon Carter, Jr.; a host of loving nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, Family, Long family members and friends.
