The Legend of a Real-Life Superhero
Our Real-Life superhero, Caron E. Arnold - Taylor, was born the eldest of four adorable children, on January 22, 1958 to the union of James Mooney-Arnold and Daisy Mae Arnold. Although she was born at the University of Kansas Hospital, Caron was a proud lifelong resident of the "Show Me" state of Missouri. Both parents, as well as all sets of grandparents preceded her in transition.
Caron received her education through the Kansas City, Missouri School District, starting out at George Melcher Elementary. She later went on to attend the Martin Luther King, Jr. Junior High School and completed her education in 1976, graduating from Central High School. At a very early age Caron exhibited a love for dance and was a faithful student of the Zella Mae Moten Dance Academy. She later went on to serve as the captain of the Central Blue Eagles Majorette Squad. Her love for dance didn't end here, however. Until her health prevented her from doing so, she could be found two stepping throughout the city, or simply leading a two step line of family and friends. In these early years, Caron and her family were residents of the historic 39th St. corridor, near the Holy Temple Homes. It was here that she would develop bonds and friendships that would literally last a lifetime.
On Wednesday, March 21, 1979 Caron received what she would later call the blessing of a lifetime, a 6 lb, 7 oz energetic, chocolate baby boy, whom she would name Christopher Arthur Lee Rembert. Over the next 18 years she would dedicate her life to being the most loving and supportive single mother in all of creation. She spent all of her free time chauffeuring Christopher to various rehearsals and events, often times orchestrated by his extremely involved grandmothers. So much so that when Christopher graduated high school and left for college she often joked that it was now time for her to find a life of her own. In 1981 Caron was joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Douglas Taylor. This marriage was later dissolved. A few years later she would fall in love with an old friend, Mr. James D. Wainright and they remained extremely close to each other over the next 30 plus years. Although they never officially jumped the broom, they were definitely the best of friends and shared an unconditional love.
At an early age Caron accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Rev. Earl Abel, Sr. Later in her adult life she would become a member and faithful worker at the Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, which was led by her grandfather, Rev. Preston Robinson, Sr. It was here at Golden Gate that she would sing her very first solo, "Farther On Up The Road". After the passing of her grandfather she would spend several years without a church home, until her son invited her to hear the new exciting preacher at his church home, the Friendship Baptist Church. It would be here that she would again commit her life to Christ, under the leadership of Pastor James Allen Terrance, Jr. At Friendship she became a faithful member of the Sanctuary Choir, the Judah Sheepfold and the Cancer Support Ministry. She was also an avid student of Christian Education and faithfully attended Sunday School and Wonderful Wednesday Bible Study. While cleaning her office her son would later find years of bible study notes, as well as a collection of Sunday Worship folders with extensive sermon notes. When he mentioned this to her she said to make sure to let Pastor T know that she was listening.
Caron was employed by several companies throughout her lifetime. Her most notable careers were with AT&T, the Internal Revenue Service and until her health began to fade with Lockline Insurance, later known as Asurion. During her time at Asurion she worked as an At Home Customer Service Agent, later to be promoted to a Trainer and Team Lead. She was also very instrumental in the establishment of new offices in Salina, KS and Greeley, CO. When she wasn't working Caron enjoyed shopping, dancing and spending fun, quality time with her family and her four legged baby Precious, whom also preceded her in transition.
On June 28, 2015, the world as Caron knew it would be changed forever. It was then that she was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. Given a very grim prognosis, Caron let her faith take control as she had done with several life threatening accidents and injuries throughout her lifetime. What was said to be a 6 month prognosis several times went on to last four years, through 80 rounds of chemotherapy and seven different combinations of chemotherapy medicines. Caron was a faithful believer in God and his healing power all the way until she received her ultimate healing and was promoted from labor to reward on Monday, May 20, 2019 surrounded by family and friends.
Caron leaves behind to celebrate her legacy, a loving son, Minister Christopher A. Rembert, two brothers, James P. Arnold (Karla) and Minister Damon K. Arnold (Regina), one sister, Jolynn Arnold. Three sister/aunts and two brother/uncles, Linda F. Robinson, Gwendolyn A. Rich, Twyla D. DePriest, Deacon Preston Robinson, Jr. (Sherry) and Roy Robinson.
