Cecil Lionel Shelby was born January 13, 1965, in Kansas City, Missouri to Harold Walker and Sharon Shelby. He was the second eldest of his maternal siblings and the eldest to his paternal siblings.
Cecil was preceded in death by his father – Harold Walker, paternal grandmother – Francis Walker, maternal grandparents – Richard & Mildred Andrews, an uncle Richard Andrews III, and an Aunt Ritha D. Hergins.
Cecil was educated in the Kansas City Missouri School District and attended Faxon Elementary,
Westport Jr. and Sr High Schools. He started his career at Coca Cola and was employed there for seven years. Cecil would then gain employment with Metropolitan Community College – Penn Valley as a Facilities Maintenance Worker until his passing. He was employed with MCC – Penn Valley for 27 years.
Cecil, also affectionally called "Scoo", loved his family, friends, the Kansas City Chiefs, and God. He spent time loving and rearing his three beautiful grandchildren, which he shared his infinity for music and instruments with them.
Cecil departed this life on March 18, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Cecil is survived by his daughter Ciera Shelby; mother Sharon Shelby; three grandchildren: Sammy Jimenez, Samara Jimenez, and Zion Jimenez; brothers Charles (Ann) Shelby, David Shelby, and Robert (Antionette) Shelby, Harlin Walker, Craig Walker, and Sylvester Walker; sisters Denise (Roy) Anderson, Shelia Shelby, and Elizabeth (Allen) Shelby-Pettigrew; plus eight nephews, seven nieces, best friends Kelcy Daniels and Hailey Chatman; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 Thursday, April 7, 2022., Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors Chapel. Visitation 9:00 a.m. - 11. Disposition Private. Officiant Pastor George Johnson
