Charles Reece, Jr. 72, was born in Kansas City, MO to Charles Reece Sr. and Lucille Biggs Reece April 27, 1948. Charles transitioned peacefully from this life into Glory on September 13, 2020, at Truman Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He has reunited with his loving parents, his brother Kenneth Reece, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a brother-in-law, Robert Tinsley.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters Anita Reece, Kansas City, MO and Alecia Kemp, San Antonio, Texas. Two brothers Edward Reece of Kansas City, MO and Ricky Reece (Angela) of Jacksonville, North Carolina. Four sisters Barbara Jean Roe, Janice Reece, Sandra Reece-Tinsley and Brenda Reece all of Kansas City, MO. An aunt Joan Shaw (William) of Kansas City, Mo. Eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age. He grew up attending Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO. Charles attended Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO until recently when his health began to fail. Charles was a man whose quiet faith was surely demonstrated during his many years of illness. In his most recent illness he demonstrated courage and with great faith fought a good fight: having now receives his crown of glory.
Charles attended Kansas City Public schools and was a Blue Eagle graduate of Central Sr. High School class of 1968. While attending Central, he participated in Track and Field where he received many medals for having "fast feet". Charles and several of his friends formed a band in their early adult years. He was the saxophonist and they played in several clubs throughout the city for several years.
During his working years, Charles embarked on several career paths. He worked at Armco Steel as a welder, the Kansas City Water Department as a pipefitter, and the University of Missouri Kansas City as a custodian. He retired in 2009.
Charles was an avid sports fan of football, basketball, baseball, and boxing. He was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan. Most of all, like his father and brother Kenneth, he enjoyed watching old black and white cowboy movies.
Charles and his many verbal expressions will be greatly missed by his friends.
