Charles Albert Taylor, Sr., 83, was born October 8, 1933 in Plattsburg, Missouri to Charles Elmore Taylor and Nellie (Bailey) Taylor. He was the younger of two children. Affectionately known as, 'Sonny Boy', Charles received his education in the public schools of Plattsburg, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri. He was united in marriage to his soulmate, Annabelle Smith on September 4, 1953 and to this union ten children were born. Charles worked two lifelong jobs at the Kansas City Star and Krause Dental Supply for thirty years, retiring from both on March 6, 1991. He was a member of Victorious Life Church (formerly Christ Temple) under the leadership of Bishop Mark C. Tolbert for nearly twenty years and was a faithful tither. Charles was a devout family man. He enjoyed playing cards, scratch-off tickets and listening to music. He was a ladies man and good at 'stirring up mess'. He always gave his last and would help anyone, as he was loved by everyone. Charles departed this life on April 13, 2017 in the comfort of his home with his baby daughter Carol at his bedside. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Wilma, sons Reginald and Lonnie, and grandchildren 'Man-Man', Little Ebony and Gina. He leaves to cherish his memory: four sons, Charles A. Taylor, Jr. (Annette), Harold E. Taylor, Andrew L. Taylor, and Troy A. Taylor; six daughters, Chonita L. Hollins, Arleta R. Taylor-Bright, Chevelle S. Taylor, Chris R. Taylor-Hollowell, Nellie Taylor, and Carol L. Taylor; one sister-in-law, Willie Mae Roberts; twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 22, 12:00 p.m. at Victorious Life Church. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
