Obituary

Charles Leon Wallace, 55, passed away on August 30, 2018 at Research Medical Center. Charles Leon Wallace was born December 28, 1962 to Charles Winn and Doreen Wallace. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward Wallace.

Affectionately known as "Freon" or "C.L.", Charles was educated in the Kansas City School District graduating in 1981 from Central High School, where he was voted best dressed. He was a member of the Junior ROTC completing four years. He furthered his education at Penn Valley Community College where he graduated with top honors and earned his degree in Applied Science, while in college he made a video of a fashion show that he presented and is used today as a teaching tool.

Charles learned to design and sew his own clothing as a young man, which his mother taught him. As an accomplished designer and contractor, he often worked around the city doing alterations and designing clothing for his friends and family. Often clients would give him permission to be creative in designing their home. He had his own sense of style as shopping and fashion were his passion.

Charles and Jackie attended school together in their youth became reacquainted in adulthood, finding their once in a lifetime love. They united in marriage on March 24, 2007.

Charles served as chairman of NACCC National Board of Directors until 2010, having served a national position longer than any other CCC member. After resigning, he began working towards the development of "Project Serve", a program designed to train and employ ex-offenders upon re-entry in to the Missouri-Kansas population.

Charles believed in God and was a member of a Refreshing Waters Worship Center. He helped out in the church by painting and whatever other services needed to be done until his health started to fail.
