Christene Johnson, 85 of Kansas City, MO passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at her home.
Christene was born December 18, 1935, to Albert and Lillian Shelton Nunley in Homer, Louisiana the youngest of 11 children.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, her brothers Arcellus and Lenzie; a twin sister, a set of twin sisters, Algie, Lucille, Addie Mae, and Arree.
At an early age she attended Homer High School and was a member of White Oak Baptist Church. She moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 19 where she lived an adventurous and fun-filled life for nearly 30 years.
In 1984 she and her son Isha Jackson moved to Kansas City, Missouri to reunite with her father and sisters. Christene also joined Greystone Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas in 1984.
Christene cared for her father in his last days and was inspired to focus her energy on those who could not care for themselves. Her clients and their families were her lifelong friends for the past 35 years while residing in Kansas City.
She enjoyed the simple things in life, good food, good friends, and lots of laughter.
Christene would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, an offer she could not refuse for an appointment from which she will not return. This assignment comes with a huge sign on bonus that will allow her to reunite with family and friends.
Her new assignment takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, gardening, and cooking to her hearts content. Music, laughter, and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce.
We want to let her know that she did a great job and wish her a safe journey.
We will remember her smile, energy, love for life, family, and friends. She was a hard worker and made a difference in the lives of many.
She leaves her precious memories to her son Isha Jackson, two granddaughters Iyanna Jackson and Laela Jackson, a sister Earie Thompson, nieces Earnestine Sharp and Joyce Dean, nephews Fred Webb (Jean), Albert Thomas (Romie), Felton Jackson (Debra). 6 Great nephews, 2 great nieces, a host of great great nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., Forest Hill Cemetery. No visitation. Services entrusted to Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors.
