Obituary

Clarice S. Rucker, 73, was born March 13, 1944 in Prescott, Arkansas to James H. and Inez H. Smith, moving to Kansas City, Missouri at 4 months old. She was preceded in death by both parents and three sisters. Clarice attended D.A. Holmes Elementary and Lincoln High School, graduating in 1962. She later obtained certificates from Carver Baptist College. Clarice was married to Hubert W. Rucker, Jr. on December 31, 1964 and will truly be missed after 55 years of togetherness. At the time of her health failing she was an employee at the United States Federal Building as a Social Security Clerk, retiring in 1981. She received several certificates of accomplishments during her employment. Clarice loved God unconditionally and was His child at an early age. To know Clarice was to love her with a heart of gold. She departed this life on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, with loved ones at her side. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her husband, Hubert W. Rucker, Jr.; daughters, Bridgitte L. Rooks and Savannah M. Kitchen (Perry); brothers, Harvey Smith Carl Smith, Larry Smith and Darryl Smith; grandchildren, Dennis G. Race, Jr., Deven W. Race and Brittneé K. McGill; great grandchild, Devionna Race; nephews, Thomas R. Anthony, Jr., William A. Tivis and Vance E. Tivis; niece, Venus R. Anthony; great nephew, Marlon Anthony (Jessica); great nieces, Nikkole Coleman and Mashawn Anthony; cousins, Nannie M. Williams, Marie Young and Annette Young; brothers-in-law, Chauncey Rucker (Brenda), Raymond Rucker and Edwin Rucker; sisters-in-law, Noretta Anderson (Johnnie) and Jennifer Powell; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services Monday, October 16, 1:00 p.m. at Rescue Missionary Baptist Church. Interment XII Gates Memorial Gardens. Visitation 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the church. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
