Obituary

Clyde Odell Mitchell, 91, passed away on his birthday December 17, 2017. He was born December 17, 1926 in Curtis, Arkansas to the late Bernie and Mary Mitchell. He was preceded in death by four brothers and a son-in-law James P. Nunn.

Clyde graduated from Peake High School in 1942. He furthered his education at Arkansas AM&N until he marrying the love of his life, Fraulene Connor in 1949. To this union four children were born, one dying shortly after birth in 1952. After sixty years, she preceded him in death.

Clyde was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church for over sixty years. He served as a dedicated deacon and chairman of the deacon board for over twenty years. He also drove the church van for many years and was known to pray until heaven rained down! Clyde loved his church family.

Clyde worked for Tension Envelopes in Kansas City, Missouri from 1951 until 1956. He then gained employment with Stern-Slegman Prins Garment Company for thirty-two years before ending his working days at Henshaw Electronics in 1990.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, James Mitchell (Tina) and Byron Mitchell; one daughter, Nellie Nunn; special God-daughter, Detra Estelle and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
