Coddy Adams, 86, passed away December 18, 2018 at Research Medical Center. He was born on Dec 18, 1932 he was the son of Elijah Adams, Sr. and Julia H. Adams in Coahoma, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by both parents, Elijah Jr., Williams Sr., Moses Adams and Sam Adams.
Coddy received his education at Hull High School in Coahoma. He later served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He retired from Armco Steel and later worked for Uni-Guard Security from which he also retired.
Coddy received Christ early in life and loved to talk about the Bible. After moving to Kansas City he was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and later became a member of Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. I.H. Henderson, Jr.
Coddy loved his immediate and extended family. He was always full of GREAT advice with a solution, ready to listen and always had a great story to make you feel better or make the situation seem better. His conversations will be missed.
Coddy is survived by: the love of his life whom he married 44 years ago, Kathryn A. Adams; 3 children, Maurice Adams of Kansas City, KS, Robert (Janay) MCcray of Kansas City and Monicka Adams-Brown of Kansas City; 1 brother, Tom (Dorothy) Adams of Grandview, MO; 1 brother-in-law, Michael (Joyce) Smith of Kansas City, MO and 1 sister-in-law, Leora (William) Webster of Detroit, MO; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services Saturday, December 29, 11:00 a.m. at Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment Monday, December 31, 12:30 p.m. Leavenworth National Cemetery. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
