Affectionately known as "Connie" to her friends, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in the 1970's where she became a permanent resident. There she met Arvell Dodson and they were married. Although they divorced, they remained lifelong friends and co-parents.

She faithfully served Jehovah even during trying times and up to her final days. She taught others and put faith in God's promise that 'there will be a resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous (Acts 24:15 ).
Connie retired from working at TIVOL after twenty-two years of service. After retirement, she returned to lend a hand for special projects at the luxury jeweler, which she enjoyed.
A great mother, sister, and friend, Connie was very proud of her family especially her grandchildren. An avid reader, Connie read the newspaper every day and taught several of her grandchildren how to read. She appreciated a strong cup of coffee, enjoyed traveling, spending time with her sisters, supporting her grandchildren's activities, and seeing movies.
