Obituary

Curtis Lamar Thomas was born on October 24, 1947, in Lapile, Arkansas, to the late Otis and Lucille Thomas.

He accepted Christ at an early age and later became a member of the Pinnacle Church of Christ in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was actively involved in various capacities.

After graduating from Gardner High School in 1965, Curtis moved away from Arkansas and was eventually drafted into military service. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his honorable discharge, he was employed at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base near Grandview, Missouri.

Curtis also worked for many years as a bus driver with the Kansas City transit system. After relocating to Little Rock, he obtained his CDL license and became an over-the-road truck driver, eventually training others in the profession before his retirement.

He had a passion for studying and discussing the Bible, working on cars, listening to music, especially jazz, fishing, and spending time with his family. Curtis and his beloved wife, Erma, enjoyed 30 wonderful years together, often walking and working in the yard side by side.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Lucille Thomas, four brothers James, Charles, Leamon, and Donald Thomas and his grandson, Aaron Hunter Jr.

Curtis transitioned from this life to his eternal home on October 14, 2024. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Erma J. Thomas; his son, Curtis L. Thomas Jr. of Independence, MO; step-sons Michael Crow of Maryland and Norris Harris Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughters Kimberly McCauley (Vernon) of Kansas City, MO, Teresa Fleming of Los Angeles, California, and step-daughter Channon Horne of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother, Alvin Thomas of Strong, Arkansas; his beloved aunt, Vastie Thomas of Huttig, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who cherish his memory.
