Obituary

Whether swimming in her pool, a lifelong dream of hers which she made come true after her retirement; tossing darts, one of her favorite pastimes; sharing laughs with friends, or simply spreading joy, Cynthia Rachell Bell touched the lives of many with her compassionate soul, loving spirit and magnetic smile. Surrounded by her children, whom she dearly loved, Cynthia was called to her heavenly home on Friday, February 17, 2017, in Kansas City, Missouri. The journey that was her amazing life began on May 6, 1953, when she was born to Donald Gene Bell and Carolyn Minda Scott Bell, the only girl with three brothers. Cynthia was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. She attended school in the Kansas City, Missouri school district, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1971. She began modeling in the early 70's with the Josette Modeling Agency. Known by family and friends as 'Big Red', a name she loved, her vanity plates read, 'BG READ'. She briefly worked at the Kansas City Water Department, but her professional career was the twenty-eight years during which she worked at AT&T. After her retirement in 2007 and a brief respite, she became a driver for Share-a-Fare, a job she dearly loved, helping disabled people with their transportation needs. She worked there for over five years until God called her home. She was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her passing: a daughter, Tiffany Nicole Bell (Lanise Holmes); son, Keith Duane Bell; stepmother, Billie Beatty; grandchildren, Keith Bell, Jr., Duane Bell, DeRon Bell, KiAndre Bell, KiAna Bell, Kerriona Ramey, Chenell McClanahan, Ariana Garcia and Malik Bell; her affectionately claimed grandchildren, Jeremiah Barber, Johnaye Barber and Jamaree Neely; three brothers, Donald James Bell, Columbus, Georgia, Ronald Gene Bell (Donna) of Kansas City, Missouri and Don Anthony Johnson-Bell (YaN'Dey) of Gambia, Africa; stepbrothers, stepsisters, close cousins, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be Friday, February 24, 1:00 p.m. at Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Private disposition. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the chapel. Services conducted by Duane E. Harvey Funeral Directors. Condolences may be shared on our website.
